The restoration of Kensington was undertaken originally for several reasons: to preserve a wonderful example of our maritime history; to provide a home for her current owner (which she has done since 1988); and to return to her, absent of many of her original fittings, an overall appearance appropriate to her designer's original intent. In all of these areas it is fair to assume that a certain degree of success has been attained. Kensington is pictured above with the restoration process, now five years in progress, nearly complete and once again proudly cruising on Lake Washington, October 4, 1986.
